Welcome to the National Website of the Delta Gamma Pi Multicultural Sorority, Inc.!

Delta Gamma Pi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. is a one-of-a-kind sisterhood that provides opportunities for intercultural social and professional networking, community service, leadership opportunities, personal growth and chance to forge life-long bonds with open-minded women far and wide.

Regardless if you are sister-to-be, a current sister, an alumna, or just a special guest, we have designed the website to be an information portal into our sorority.  Nevertheless, you may find more insight by browsing our  chapter websites or by contacting us directly. Enjoy your visit!

Febuary is Black History Month

It is in the tradition of our sorority to celebrate all cultures and groups as well as the milestones that they make in their respective societies.  Black History Month is one of the oldest and most widespread formal celebrations of this type.  Most college and schools, as well as some metropolitian communities, hold a host of special events during this time.

It may come as some surprise, however, that the Greek community holds a special stake in Black History Month.  Back in 1924, members from both  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. began a "Negro Achievement Week" which included February 14th;  the birth date of Frederick Douglass.  In 1926, Carter G. Woodson was responsible for coining it as "Negro History Week".  In 1976 the, bicentennial year of the United States, the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History was successful in getting legislation passed to mark the entire month of February as Black History Month.

Delta Gamma Pi Multicultural Sorority is proud that the seeds for this nationwide celebration of the achievements of African-Americans were sown by fellow greeks;  and we are honored to do what we can to participate.  The sorority encourages all sisters and others to look into the featured programming for the month at their respective schools and in their communities.
